In 2021, the average aircraft tyre export price amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 1.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a slight decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to the United States amounted to $X per unit.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Chile (+4.4%).
Aircraft Tyre Imports
Imports into Colombia
In 2021, imports of tyres for aircraft into Colombia skyrocketed to X units, increasing by 23% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep reduction. Imports peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, aircraft tyre imports declined to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 21%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, the United States (X units) constituted the largest supplier of aircraft tyre to Colombia, accounting for a 45% share of total imports. Moreover, aircraft tyre imports from the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Japan (X units), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Thailand (X units), with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the United States stood at -12.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Japan (+11.4% per year) and Thailand (+13.4% per year).
In value terms, the largest aircraft tyre suppliers to Colombia were the United States ($X), Japan ($X) and Thailand ($X), together comprising 76% of total imports. Germany, France, Belgium and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 22%.
Among the main suppliers, Germany, with a CAGR of +169.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average aircraft tyre import price amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -21.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2020, and then fell significantly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the price for France ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+9.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
