The exports peaked at X cubic meters in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, exports of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates totaled $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, recorded prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 244%. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

Egypt (X cubic meters) was the main destination for exports of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates from Colombia, with a 61% share of total exports. Moreover, exports of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates to Egypt exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Jordan (X cubic meters), threefold. Lebanon (X cubic meters) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.5% share.

In 2021, imports of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates into Colombia expanded modestly to X cubic meters, surging by 3.2% compared with 2020 figures. Over the period under review, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +24.7% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 78%. Mexico and China lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 13%.
