The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 46%. Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was El Salvador ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Guatemala ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Honduras (+33.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +28.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, the largest malt suppliers to Costa Rica were the Netherlands ($X), France ($X) and Sweden ($X), with a combined 44% share of total imports.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average import price increased by 12% against the previous year.
