Tomato Market Size in Costa Rica

The Costa Rican tomato market declined modestly to $X in 2022, dropping by -3.3% against the previous year. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 539% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, tomato exports shrank remarkably to $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 580% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

France (X tons) was the main destination for tomato exports from Costa Rica, with a 94% share of total exports. Moreover, tomato exports to France exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Aruba (X tons), more than tenfold.
