France (X tons) was the main destination for banana exports from Cote d'Ivoire, accounting for a 66% share of total exports. Moreover, banana exports to France exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the UK (X tons), sevenfold. Senegal (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 7.5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to France amounted to +17.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the UK (-0.1% per year) and Senegal (+16.9% per year).
In value terms, France ($X) remains the key foreign market for bananas exports from Cote d'Ivoire, comprising 73% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the UK ($X), with a 9.5% share of total exports. It was followed by Senegal, with a 5.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to France amounted to +17.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the UK (+4.0% per year) and Senegal (+20.6% per year).

In 2022, the average banana export price amounted to $X per ton, approximately equating the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 9%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Mali ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into Cote d'Ivoire
In 2022, overseas purchases of bananas decreased by -26.4% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a four-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, posted a pronounced increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 149%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then declined notably in the following year.
In value terms, banana imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 76% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, Morocco (X tons) constituted the largest banana supplier to Cote d'Ivoire, with a 71% share of total imports. Moreover, banana imports from Morocco exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, France (X kg), twofold.
