Senegal (X tons), Angola (X tons) and Guinea (X tons) were the main destinations of candy, sweets, and nonchocolate confectionery exports from Cote d'Ivoire, together comprising 77% of total exports.

In 2022, purchases abroad of candies, sweets, and nonchocolate confectionery decreased by -13% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 102% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, candy, sweets, and nonchocolate confectionery imports reached $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 86%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Togo (X tons) constituted the largest candy, sweets, and nonchocolate confectionery supplier to Cote d'Ivoire, with a 52% share of total imports. Moreover, candy, sweets, and nonchocolate confectionery imports from Togo exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), threefold. Colombia (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Togo totaled +34.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+18.3% per year) and Colombia (+19.7% per year).
In value terms, Togo ($X), China ($X) and Turkey ($X) constituted the largest candy, sweets, and nonchocolate confectionery suppliers to Cote d'Ivoire, together comprising 69% of total imports. Colombia, France, India, Ghana, Brazil and Egypt lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 18%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Ghana, with a CAGR of +62.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for candies, sweets, and nonchocolate confectionery stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 16% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
