Niger (X tons) was the main destination for canned vegetable exports from Cote d'Ivoire, with a 57% share of total exports. Moreover, canned vegetable exports to Niger exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, France (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the UK (X tons), with a 17% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Niger stood at +93.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (-3.9% per year) and the UK (-1.0% per year).

In value terms, the UK ($X) remains the key foreign market for canned vegetables exports from Cote d'Ivoire, comprising 55% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Niger ($X), with a 26% share of total exports. It was followed by France, with a 16% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the UK amounted to +8.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Niger (+135.7% per year) and France (+2.2% per year).

For the fourth consecutive year, Cote d'Ivoire recorded growth in overseas purchases of canned vegetables, which increased by 9.7% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports enjoyed a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, canned vegetable imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 57% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Italy (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of canned vegetable to Cote d'Ivoire, accounting for a 60% share of total imports. Moreover, canned vegetable imports from Italy exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, France (X tons), threefold. China (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Italy totaled +17.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: France (+17.1% per year) and China (+25.6% per year).

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lebanon (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
