Plaster Market Size in Cote d'Ivoire

In 2022, the Cote d'Ivoire's plaster market was finally on the rise to reach $X after two years of decline. Overall, the total consumption indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, consumption decreased by -11.0% against 2019 indices. Exports from Cote d'Ivoire

After three years of growth, shipments abroad of plaster decreased by -12.7% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 1,918%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, plaster exports declined sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 2,481% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Congo (X tons) was the main destination for plaster exports from Cote d'Ivoire, accounting for a 98% share of total exports. It was followed by Burkina Faso (X tons), with a 1.6% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Congo amounted to +121.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Burkina Faso (-6.9% per year) and Mali (-17.4% per year).

In value terms, Congo ($X) remains the key foreign market for plaster exports from Cote d'Ivoire, comprising 90% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Mali ($X), with an 8.6% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Congo amounted to +50.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mali (-2.4% per year) and Burkina Faso (-10.8% per year).

Imports into Cote d'Ivoire

In 2022, purchases abroad of plaster was finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -21.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 55% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, plaster imports amounted to $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -8.0% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 24%. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Tunisia (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of plaster to Cote d'Ivoire, with a 87% share of total imports. Moreover, plaster imports from Tunisia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Mauritania (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Turkey (X tons), with a 3.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Tunisia amounted to +6.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Mauritania (+114.9% per year) and Turkey (+40.5% per year).

In value terms, Tunisia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of plaster to Cote d'Ivoire, comprising 87% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 4.4% share of total imports. It was followed by Mauritania, with a 2.7% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Tunisia amounted to +6.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+41.4% per year) and Mauritania (+100.4% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average plaster import price amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -8.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 17%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while the price for Morocco ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
