In value terms, mobile phone exports rose rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 456% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

The United States (X units) was the main destination for mobile phone exports from Cote d'Ivoire, accounting for a 62% share of total exports. Moreover, mobile phone exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United Arab Emirates (X units), threefold. Morocco (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the United States totaled +118.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+7.1% per year) and Morocco (+188.5% per year).

Mobile phone imports into Cote d'Ivoire declined to X units in 2022, waning by -11.8% on 2021. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 649% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

China (X units), Hong Kong SAR (X units) and the United Arab Emirates (X units) were the main suppliers of mobile phone imports to Cote d'Ivoire, with a combined 96% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Hong Kong SAR (with a CAGR of +120.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of mobile phones to Cote d'Ivoire, comprising 67% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Hong Kong SAR ($X), with a 28% share of total imports.
