From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +387.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, France ($X) remains the key foreign market for sunflower-seed and safflower oil exports from Cote d'Ivoire, comprising 79% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Burkina Faso ($X), with a 9.4% share of total exports.

In 2022, after six years of growth, there was decline in overseas purchases of sunflower-seed and safflower oil, when their volume decreased by -3.3% to X tons. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 44%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then dropped modestly in the following year.

In value terms, sunflower-seed and safflower oil imports declined dramatically to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 74%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then reduced sharply in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Ukraine (X tons) constituted the largest sunflower-seed and safflower oil supplier to Cote d'Ivoire, accounting for a 44% share of total imports. Moreover, sunflower-seed and safflower oil imports from Ukraine exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Morocco (X tons), with a 14% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Ukraine stood at +6.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+33.8% per year) and Morocco (+34.7% per year).

In value terms, Ukraine ($X) constituted the largest supplier of sunflower-seed and safflower oil to Cote d'Ivoire, comprising 41% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Turkey ($X), with a 20% share of total imports. It was followed by Morocco, with an 18% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Ukraine totaled +6.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+34.2% per year) and Morocco (+30.3% per year).

The average sunflower-seed and safflower oil import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, reducing by -18.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a slight shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 61%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Luxembourg ($X per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
