In 2022, after two years of growth, there was decline in the Croatian aluminium alloy tube market, when its value decreased by -2.2% to $X. In general, consumption, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. In 2022, overseas shipments of aluminium alloy tubes and pipes decreased by -34.7% to X tons, falling for the ninth consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports faced a sharp contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 3.8%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, aluminium alloy tube exports reached $X in 2022. In general, exports saw a sharp curtailment. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Slovenia (X tons) was the main destination for aluminium alloy tube exports from Croatia, with a 32% share of total exports. Moreover, aluminium alloy tube exports to Slovenia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Serbia (X tons), twofold. France (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 9.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Slovenia stood at -5.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Serbia (-21.6% per year) and France (-36.1% per year).

In value terms, Slovenia ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for aluminium alloy tubes and pipes exports from Croatia, comprising 31% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Serbia ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Italy, with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Slovenia stood at +2.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Serbia (-20.9% per year) and Italy (-25.9% per year).

In 2022, the average aluminium alloy tube export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 54% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 64%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Imports into Croatia

In 2022, aluminium alloy tube imports into Croatia fell slightly to X tons, declining by -3.6% on the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, saw a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 61%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, aluminium alloy tube imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 66%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest aluminium alloy tube supplier to Croatia, accounting for a 44% share of total imports. Moreover, aluminium alloy tube imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Slovenia (X tons), threefold. Italy (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 8.7% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at +72.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Slovenia (+20.1% per year) and Italy (+15.1% per year).

In value terms, the largest aluminium alloy tube suppliers to Croatia were China ($X), Slovenia ($X) and Italy ($X), together comprising 68% of total imports.

Among the main suppliers, China, with a CAGR of +62.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average aluminium alloy tube import price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 21% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last decade.
