The exports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, anionic surface-active agents (excl. soap) exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 68%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Spain (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (X tons) were the main destinations of anionic surface-active agents (excl. soap) exports from Croatia, with a combined 55% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Slovenia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Austria and North Macedonia, which together accounted for a further 43%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Bulgaria (with a CAGR of +412.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, imports showed a mild contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 36%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, anionic surface-active agents (excl. soap) imports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed a noticeable shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 43% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Italy (X tons) constituted the largest anionic surface-active agents (excl. soap) supplier to Croatia, accounting for a 44% share of total imports. Moreover, anionic surface-active agents (excl. soap) imports from Italy exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Czech Republic (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Poland (X tons), with a 16% share.

These countries were followed by Germany, Slovakia, France and Spain, which together accounted for a further 15%.

France, with a CAGR of +243.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
