Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a notable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 146%. The exports peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, breathing appliances exports reduced sharply to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 574% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then contracted notably in the following year.

Bosnia and Herzegovina (X units), Montenegro (X units) and North Macedonia (X units) were the main destinations of breathing appliances exports from Croatia, together accounting for 73% of total exports. Slovenia, Serbia and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 26%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the United States (with a CAGR of +11.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X), Montenegro ($X) and Slovenia ($X) were the largest markets for breathing appliances exported from Croatia worldwide, with a combined 71% share of total exports.

Montenegro, with a CAGR of +25.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 174%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2021, and then fell sharply in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Serbia ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to North Macedonia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Serbia (+16.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the amount of breathing appliances and gas masks imported into Croatia expanded slightly to X units, increasing by 4.7% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports saw a perceptible increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 89%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, breathing appliances imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 91%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Germany (X units), France (X units) and Latvia (X units) were the main suppliers of breathing appliances imports to Croatia, together comprising 55% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Latvia (with a CAGR of +71.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of breathing appliances and gas masks to Croatia, comprising 37% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Poland ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Latvia, with a 14% share.

Overall, import price indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, breathing appliances import price increased by +74.2% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per unit), while the price for Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+17.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
