In value terms, chicken meat exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, total exports indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Bosnia and Herzegovina (X tons), Slovenia (X tons) and Kosovo (X tons) were the main destinations of chicken meat exports from Croatia, together comprising 70% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Slovenia (with a CAGR of +63.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Slovenia ($X) remains the key foreign market for chicken meat exports from Croatia, comprising 36% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Austria, with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Slovenia amounted to +56.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bosnia and Herzegovina (-6.3% per year) and Austria (+6.9% per year).

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average export price increased by 11%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Montenegro ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Serbia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kosovo (+10.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Croatia
In 2021, approx. X tons of chicken meat were imported into Croatia; with an increase of 25% against 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 26%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, chicken meat imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Hungary (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Denmark (X tons) were the main suppliers of chicken meat imports to Croatia, with a combined 51% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Slovenia, Poland, Germany, Sweden, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgium and Romania, which together accounted for a further 44%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Sweden (with a CAGR of +64.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest chicken meat suppliers to Croatia were the Netherlands ($X), Hungary ($X) and Slovenia ($X), with a combined 55% share of total imports. Denmark, Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Germany, Belgium and Sweden lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 39%.
Sweden, with a CAGR of +64.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average chicken meat import price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average import price increased by 25% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per ton), while the price for Sweden ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
