Serbia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Spain, the Netherlands, Austria and Bulgaria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 35%.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for chocolate and confectionery exports from Croatia, comprising 35% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Slovenia ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany totaled +58.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovenia (+20.4% per year) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (+4.7% per year).

The average chocolate and confectionery export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, waning by -2.3% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate slight growth. Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Serbia (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Croatia
In 2022, after five years of growth, there was decline in supplies from abroad of chocolate and confectionery, when their volume decreased by -1.7% to X tons. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +110.2% against 2012 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 25% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then shrank modestly in the following year.
In value terms, chocolate and confectionery imports declined slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +37.7% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then reduced modestly in the following year.

Germany (X tons), Austria (X tons) and Serbia (X tons) were the main suppliers of chocolate and confectionery imports to Croatia, with a combined 58% share of total imports. Poland, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Belgium, Turkey, Hungary, Spain and Slovakia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 37%.
