Overall, exports posted a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 50% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, cider, perry and mead exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 31% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Hungary (X litres), Germany (X litres) and Serbia (X litres) were the main destinations of cider, perry and mead exports from Croatia, together comprising 71% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Germany (with a CAGR of +113.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for cider, perry and mead exported from Croatia were Germany ($X), Hungary ($X) and Serbia ($X), together comprising 70% of total exports. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per litre in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per litre), while the average price for exports to Serbia ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (-0.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2021, the amount of cider, perry, mead and other fermented beverages imported into Croatia skyrocketed to X litres, rising by 29% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a slight expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +76.8% against 2016 indices.
