Concentrated Orange Juice Market Size in Croatia

The Croatian concentrated orange juice market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2021, after two years of decline. Bosnia and Herzegovina (X tons) was the main destination for concentrated orange juice exports from Croatia, with a 70% share of total exports. Moreover, concentrated orange juice exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Slovenia (X tons), twofold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Bosnia and Herzegovina amounted to +38.9%.

In value terms, Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X) remains the key foreign market for concentrated orange juice exports from Croatia, comprising 89% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Slovenia ($X), with a 9.6% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Bosnia and Herzegovina stood at +43.7%.

The average concentrated orange juice export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 6.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 26%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of concentrated orange juice increased by 58% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, concentrated orange juice imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 55%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Romania (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Slovenia (X tons) were the main suppliers of concentrated orange juice imports to Croatia, with a combined 87% share of total imports. Italy, France, Greece, Austria, Spain and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 12%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in France (with a CAGR of +370.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) constituted the largest supplier of concentrated orange juice to Croatia, comprising 52% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Romania ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Slovenia, with an 8.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from the Netherlands amounted to +3.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Romania (+12.4% per year) and Slovenia (+14.8% per year).

In 2021, the average concentrated orange juice import price amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -2.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a deep reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 9.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for Romania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (-1.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
