The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, consumption increased by +25.8% against 2018 indices. Crispbread, rusk and toasted bread consumption peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, crispbread, rusk and toasted bread production declined markedly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, recorded a sharp setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 19%. Crispbread, rusk and toasted bread production peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 940%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, crispbread, rusk and toasted bread exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 488% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Slovenia (X tons) was the main destination for crispbread, rusk and toasted bread exports from Croatia, with a 63% share of total exports. Moreover, crispbread, rusk and toasted bread exports to Slovenia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Netherlands (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Switzerland (X tons), with a 4.6% share.

Serbia, with a CAGR of +733.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+20.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the amount of crispbread, rusks and toasted bread imported into Croatia expanded slightly to X tons, surging by 1.8% on the previous year. Over the period under review, imports recorded a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 33%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, crispbread, rusk and toasted bread imports expanded markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +43.7% against 2019 indices. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

In 2022, Serbia (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of crispbread, rusk and toasted bread to Croatia, accounting for a 51% share of total imports. Moreover, crispbread, rusk and toasted bread imports from Serbia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X tons), twofold. Bulgaria (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Serbia stood at +82.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+6.5% per year) and Bulgaria (-1.9% per year).
In value terms, Serbia ($X), Italy ($X) and Bulgaria ($X) appeared to be the largest crispbread, rusk and toasted bread suppliers to Croatia, with a combined 73% share of total imports.
Serbia, with a CAGR of +52.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a abrupt contraction.
