Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, imports of fish fillets and other fish meat into Croatia surged to X tons, rising by 20% against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, total imports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +42.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by 31%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 39% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

In 2022, Argentina (X tons) constituted the largest fish fillets and other fish meat supplier to Croatia, accounting for a 32% share of total imports. Moreover, imports of fish fillets and other fish meat from Argentina exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Spain (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by the Netherlands (X tons), with a 13% share.

The Netherlands, with a CAGR of +97.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for fish fillets and other fish meat amounted to $X per ton, rising by 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, import price for fish fillets and other fish meat increased by +37.8% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 17%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
