Ghee Market Size in Croatia

In 2022, the Croatian ghee market increased by 6.3% to $X, rising for the sixth consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption, however, showed a significant expansion. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Ghee exports from Croatia contracted to X tons in 2022, waning by -12.6% against 2021. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed notable growth. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, ghee exports shrank modestly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 137% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Sweden (X tons), Slovenia (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main destinations of ghee exports from Croatia, together comprising 96% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Slovenia (with a CAGR of +46.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, Sweden ($X) remains the key foreign market for ghee exports from Croatia, comprising 60% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Slovenia ($X), with a 27% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 9.7% share.

Overall, export price indicated a slight expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, ghee export price increased by +129.3% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 56%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovenia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sweden (+19.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

After three years of growth, overseas purchases of ghee decreased by -9.9% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 236%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, ghee imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 175% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Serbia (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main suppliers of ghee imports to Croatia, together accounting for 95% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +89.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Serbia ($X), Poland ($X) and Belgium ($X) constituted the largest ghee suppliers to Croatia, together accounting for 95% of total imports.

In terms of the main suppliers, Poland, with a CAGR of +113.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average ghee import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, jumping by 29% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, ghee import price increased by +38.6% against 2020 indices. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Poland ($X per ton) and Belgium ($X per ton), while the price for Serbia ($X per ton) and the Netherlands ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
