The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 57% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Serbia (X tons) was the main destination for hair lotion and preparation exports from Croatia, with a 33% share of total exports. Moreover, hair lotion and preparation exports to Serbia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Bosnia and Herzegovina (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Slovenia (X tons), with a 9.6% share.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, hair lotion and preparation imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +68.9% against 2015 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Poland (X tons), Slovenia (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of hair lotion and preparation imports to Croatia, with a combined 54% share of total imports. Italy, Belgium, France, Hungary, the Netherlands, Spain and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 43%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +34.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while the price for Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
