After three years of decline, overseas purchases of horizontal machining centres for working metal increased by 14% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 83% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, horizontal machining centre imports fell notably to $X in 2021. In general, imports enjoyed tangible growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 50% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Germany (X units) constituted the largest supplier of horizontal machining centre to Croatia, accounting for a 60% share of total imports. Moreover, horizontal machining centre imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Slovenia (X units), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Belgium (X units), with a 6.2% share.
