Imines Market Size in Croatia

In 2021, the Croatian imines market decreased by -37.8% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, consumption, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Imines consumption peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, shipments abroad of imines and their derivatives and salts thereof was finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports showed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 313%. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, imines exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports enjoyed a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 223% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Slovenia (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main destinations of imines exports from Croatia, with a combined 63% share of total exports. Iran, the UK, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bulgaria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 35%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by North Macedonia (with a CAGR of +25.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Iran ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Slovenia ($X) were the largest markets for imines exported from Croatia worldwide, together accounting for 51% of total exports. These countries were followed by Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Spain, the UK and Bulgaria, which together accounted for a further 44%.

In terms of the main countries of destination, North Macedonia, with a CAGR of +21.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average imines export price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 8.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 31%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovenia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bulgaria (+35.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Croatia

In 2021, the amount of imines and their derivatives and salts thereof imported into Croatia shrank to X tons, falling by -11.1% against the year before. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 162%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, imines imports shrank remarkably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 128% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Poland (X tons), Spain (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main suppliers of imines imports to Croatia, together accounting for 68% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Belgium (with a CAGR of +125.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest imines suppliers to Croatia were Belgium ($X), Poland ($X) and Germany ($X), with a combined 58% share of total imports.

Belgium, with a CAGR of +135.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average imines import price amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -25.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 122% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while the price for Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+19.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
