In value terms, mandarin and clementine exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a mild contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 168%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Bosnia and Herzegovina (X tons), Serbia (X tons) and Slovenia (X tons) were the main destinations of mandarin and clementine exports from Croatia, with a combined 67% share of total exports. The Czech Republic, Slovakia, Italy and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Italy (with a CAGR of +71.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Mandarin and clementine imports into Croatia skyrocketed to X tons in 2022, growing by 33% on 2021. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +98.1% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 49% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
In value terms, mandarin and clementine imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw strong growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Turkey (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of mandarin and clementine to Croatia, with a 37% share of total imports. Moreover, mandarin and clementine imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Albania (X tons), with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Turkey stood at +50.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (-4.2% per year) and Germany (+39.3% per year).

Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 18% against the previous year.
