Slovenia (X tons) was the main destination for natural polymers exports from Croatia, accounting for a 68% share of total exports. Moreover, natural polymers exports to Slovenia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Bosnia and Herzegovina (X tons), sevenfold. Serbia (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 5.4% share.

In value terms, Slovenia ($X) remains the key foreign market for natural and modified natural polymers in primary forms exports from Croatia, comprising 68% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Serbia, with an 8.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Slovenia totaled +104.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bosnia and Herzegovina (+6.1% per year) and Serbia (+2.3% per year).

The average natural polymers export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 50% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a abrupt contraction. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was North Macedonia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovenia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Croatia
Natural polymers imports into Croatia soared to X tons in 2021, with an increase of 83% against 2020. Overall, imports continue to indicate a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 156%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, natural polymers imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 81%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.
Imports by Country
Italy (X tons), China (X tons) and Sweden (X tons) were the main suppliers of natural polymers imports to Croatia, together accounting for 61% of total imports. These countries were followed by Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, South Korea and Slovenia, which together accounted for a further 31%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by South Korea (with a CAGR of +65.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Sweden ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Germany ($X) were the largest natural polymers suppliers to Croatia, together accounting for 47% of total imports.
Among the main suppliers, the Czech Republic, with a CAGR of +48.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 32%. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while the price for Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
