From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, non-alloy aluminium bar exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports saw a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 862% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Switzerland (X tons) was the main destination for non-alloy aluminium bar exports from Croatia, accounting for a 59% share of total exports. Moreover, non-alloy aluminium bar exports to Switzerland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Italy (X tons), with a 6.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Switzerland amounted to +88.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+27.3% per year) and Italy (+30.7% per year).
In value terms, Switzerland ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for non-alloy aluminium bars, rods and profiles exports from Croatia, comprising 47% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by Austria, with a 15% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Switzerland totaled +67.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+28.6% per year) and Austria (+16.6% per year).

In 2021, the average non-alloy aluminium bar export price amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -37.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, enjoyed a moderate expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 67% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2020, and then declined remarkably in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Albania (+11.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Croatia
In 2021, purchases abroad of non-alloy aluminium bars, rods and profiles was finally on the rise to reach X tons after three years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 62%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-alloy aluminium bar imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, faced a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 54% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Italy (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) were the main suppliers of non-alloy aluminium bar imports to Croatia, with a combined 67% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Slovenia, Germany, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Poland, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, China and Albania, which together accounted for a further 32%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Belgium (with a CAGR of +70.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Italy ($X), Germany ($X) and Turkey ($X) appeared to be the largest non-alloy aluminium bar suppliers to Croatia, with a combined 66% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Slovenia, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland, China and Albania, which together accounted for a further 33%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Belgium, with a CAGR of +48.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average non-alloy aluminium bar import price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, non-alloy aluminium bar import price increased by +113.0% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+13.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
