Exports by Country
Bosnia and Herzegovina (X cubic meters), Italy (X cubic meters) and Slovenia (X cubic meters) were the main destinations of particle board exports from Croatia, together comprising 78% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Italy (with a CAGR of +26.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for particle board exported from Croatia were Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X), Italy ($X) and Slovenia ($X), with a combined 77% share of total exports.

Imports into Croatia
In 2022, supplies from abroad of particle board decreased by -7.7% to X cubic meters, falling for the third consecutive year after eight years of growth. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -12.7% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, particle board imports reached $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +32.3% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 26% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Austria (X cubic meters) constituted the largest particle board supplier to Croatia, accounting for a 48% share of total imports. Moreover, particle board imports from Austria exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Hungary (X cubic meters), twofold. Romania (X cubic meters) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 16% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Austria stood at +4.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Hungary (+15.6% per year) and Romania (+20.8% per year).
In value terms, Austria ($X) constituted the largest supplier of particle board to Croatia, comprising 48% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Hungary ($X), with a 20% share of total imports. It was followed by Romania, with a 15% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Austria totaled +5.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Hungary (+19.3% per year) and Romania (+21.2% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average particle board import price stood at $X per cubic meter in 2022, growing by 14% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 28% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per cubic meter), while the price for Ukraine ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
