Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, plastic household ware exports dropped to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 360% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Italy (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Slovenia (X tons) were the main destinations of plastic household ware exports from Croatia, with a combined 53% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Spain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Hungary, France, the UK, the Netherlands and Slovakia, which together accounted for a further 39%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the UK (with a CAGR of +111.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Spain ($X), Slovenia ($X) and Germany ($X) constituted the largest markets for plastic household ware exported from Croatia worldwide, with a combined 46% share of total exports.

In general, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -15.2% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 34%. In 2021, Serbia (X tons) constituted the largest plastic household ware supplier to Croatia, with a 34% share of total imports. Moreover, plastic household ware imports from Serbia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Germany (X tons), with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Serbia amounted to +20.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (-4.4% per year) and Germany (+13.1% per year).

In value terms, the largest plastic household ware suppliers to Croatia were Serbia ($X), Germany ($X) and Italy ($X), together comprising 42% of total imports. Poland, China, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Turkey, Spain and Austria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 44%.

Slovenia, with a CAGR of +20.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average plastic household ware import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 16% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the price for Serbia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+12.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
