For the third consecutive year, Croatia recorded growth in shipments abroad of prepared or preserved meat or offal of bovine animals, which increased by 4.7% to X tons in 2021. Overall, total exports indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +82.0% against 2014 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 28% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, preserved cows meat exports rose significantly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +73.9% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

Slovenia (X tons), Kosovo (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main destinations of preserved cows meat exports from Croatia, together comprising 44% of total exports. These countries were followed by Switzerland, Sweden, North Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Austria, Italy, Australia and Hungary, which together accounted for a further 49%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Hungary (with a CAGR of +45.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for preserved cows meat exported from Croatia were Kosovo ($X), Slovenia ($X) and Germany ($X), together comprising 43% of total exports. These countries were followed by Switzerland, Sweden, North Macedonia, Austria, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Australia and Hungary, which together accounted for a further 50%.
Among the main countries of destination, Hungary, with a CAGR of +33.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average preserved cows meat export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 5.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kosovo (+8.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, approx. X tons of prepared or preserved meat or offal of bovine animals were imported into Croatia; increasing by 25% compared with the year before. Overall, imports continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 51%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, preserved cows meat imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 44%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

Germany (X tons), Slovenia (X tons) and Serbia (X tons) were the main suppliers of preserved cows meat imports to Croatia, with a combined 82% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Serbia (with a CAGR of +101.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest preserved cows meat suppliers to Croatia were Germany ($X), Slovenia ($X) and Serbia ($X), together comprising 73% of total imports.
Among the main suppliers, Serbia, with a CAGR of +116.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
