Refrigerated Show-Cases Market Size in Croatia

In value terms, refrigerated show-cases production fell remarkably to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the production volume increased by 176% against the previous year. Refrigerated show-cases production peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, overseas shipments of refrigerated show-caseses increased by 11% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, exports continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 80%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, refrigerated show-cases exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +34.1% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 53%. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Slovenia (X units), Serbia (X units) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (X units) were the main destinations of refrigerated show-cases exports from Croatia, together accounting for 69% of total exports. Germany, Montenegro, Italy and North Macedonia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 22%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Germany (with a CAGR of +62.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Serbia ($X), Slovenia ($X) and Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for refrigerated show-cases exported from Croatia worldwide, together comprising 63% of total exports. Germany, Montenegro, Italy and North Macedonia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 23%.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Germany, with a CAGR of +60.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average refrigerated show-cases export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 8.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 62%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Montenegro ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to North Macedonia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to North Macedonia (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Croatia

Refrigerated show-cases imports into Croatia skyrocketed to X units in 2022, rising by 28% on the previous year. Overall, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +52.7% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, refrigerated show-cases imports soared to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 29%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Italy (X units), Turkey (X units) and China (X units) were the main suppliers of refrigerated show-cases imports to Croatia, together comprising 60% of total imports. Germany, Romania, Slovenia, Austria, Ukraine, Hungary, Poland, Denmark and Serbia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 33%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Ukraine (with a CAGR of +37.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest refrigerated show-cases suppliers to Croatia were Italy ($X), Turkey ($X) and Austria ($X), with a combined 52% share of total imports. Hungary, Slovenia, Poland, Romania, Germany, Ukraine, Serbia, China and Denmark lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 33%.

Among the main suppliers, Ukraine, with a CAGR of +38.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average refrigerated show-cases import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, declining by -5.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a slight setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 15% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Serbia ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
