For the fourth consecutive year, Croatia recorded growth in supplies from abroad of roasted coffee (not decaffeinated), which increased by 5.6% to X tons in 2021. In general, total imports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +110.1% against 2012 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

In value terms, non-decaffeinated roasted coffee imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +118.6% against 2012 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Italy (X tons), Slovenia (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of non-decaffeinated roasted coffee imports to Croatia, with a combined 78% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Greece, Austria and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which together accounted for a further 16%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Greece (with a CAGR of +288.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
