Slovenia (X tons) was the main destination for tomato exports from Croatia, with a 37% share of total exports. Moreover, tomato exports to Slovenia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Italy (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Serbia (X tons), with a 13% share.

In value terms, Slovenia ($X) remains the key foreign market for tomatoes exports from Croatia, comprising 41% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Serbia, with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Slovenia totaled +27.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (+57.0% per year) and Serbia (+65.8% per year).

In general, export price indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last decade. Tomato imports into Croatia expanded markedly to X tons in 2022, picking up by 6.9% against the previous year. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 49%. Turkey (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main suppliers of tomato imports to Croatia, together comprising 56% of total imports. Spain, Slovenia, Germany, Albania and North Macedonia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 32%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Slovenia (with a CAGR of +46.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
