In value terms, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports continue to indicate a pronounced increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 79% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Slovenia (X tons) was the main destination for unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons exports from Croatia, with a 70% share of total exports. Moreover, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons exports to Slovenia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Bosnia and Herzegovina (X tons), threefold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Slovenia totaled +12.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bosnia and Herzegovina (+9.8% per year) and Serbia (-0.5% per year).
In value terms, Slovenia ($X) remains the key foreign market for unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons exports from Croatia, comprising 65% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X), with a 26% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Slovenia amounted to +12.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bosnia and Herzegovina (+13.0% per year) and Serbia (+3.6% per year).

In 2021, the average unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons export price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 14% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovenia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Serbia (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Croatia
In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons, when their volume decreased by -20.1% to X tons. Overall, imports, however, recorded a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 139%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then dropped notably in the following year.
In value terms, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 128% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Hungary (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons to Croatia, accounting for a 70% share of total imports. Moreover, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons imports from Hungary exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X tons), threefold. Slovenia (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 1.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Hungary totaled +4.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+50.3% per year) and Slovenia (-34.3% per year).
In value terms, Hungary ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Slovenia ($X) were the largest unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons suppliers to Croatia, together accounting for 97% of total imports.
The Netherlands, with a CAGR of +52.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2021, the average unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 59% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.6%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
