Thailand (X tons) was the main destination for antisera exports from Cuba, accounting for a 48% share of total exports. Moreover, antisera exports to Thailand exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X kg), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Indonesia (X kg), with a 4.9% share.

Ecuador, with a CAGR of +102.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average antisera export price stood at $X per kg in 2021, shrinking by -1.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 94% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per kg in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per kg), while the average price for exports to Uruguay ($X per kg) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+37.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Cuba
Antisera imports into Cuba skyrocketed to X tons in 2021, increasing by 132% on the previous year. Over the period under review, imports posted a resilient expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, antisera imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 385%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

China (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Costa Rica (X tons) were the main suppliers of antisera imports to Cuba, together accounting for 86% of total imports. These countries were followed by South Korea, Thailand and Italy, which together accounted for a further 10%.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Costa Rica ($X per ton), while the price for South Korea ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
