The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -21.2% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, canned vegetable imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -11.7% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 38%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Spain (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of canned vegetable to Cuba, with a 84% share of total imports. Moreover, canned vegetable imports from Spain exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Panama (X tons), with a 2.3% share.
