In value terms, synthetic rubber (excluding latex) imports amounted to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a abrupt decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 61% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Mexico (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of synthetic rubber (excluding latex) to Cuba, with a 85% share of total imports. Moreover, synthetic rubber (excluding latex) imports from Mexico exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Italy (X tons), with a 21% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Mexico stood at +3.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-0.4% per year) and Italy (+9.0% per year).
In value terms, Mexico ($X) constituted the largest supplier of synthetic rubber (excluding latex) to Cuba, comprising 130% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with a 45% share of total imports. It was followed by China, with a 38% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Mexico amounted to -1.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+2.4% per year) and China (-12.9% per year).

The average synthetic rubber (excluding latex) import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, waning by -24.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average import price increased by 80% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for Colombia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
