The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the production volume increased by 34% against the previous year. Concrete tile production peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, production remained at a lower figure.

Imports into Cuba

Concrete tile imports into Cuba surged to X tons in 2021, picking up by 34% compared with 2020 figures. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 55%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, concrete tile imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 41%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Spain (X tons) constituted the largest concrete tile supplier to Cuba, accounting for a 73% share of total imports. Moreover, concrete tile imports from Spain exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Belgium (X tons), fourfold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Spain amounted to -1.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belgium (+94.1% per year) and China (-19.5% per year).

In value terms, Spain ($X) constituted the largest supplier of concrete tile to Cuba, comprising 73% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 15% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Spain stood at +5.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-23.3% per year) and Belgium (+131.7% per year).

The average concrete tile import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, reducing by -8.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 72%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the price for Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
