In 2021, shipments abroad of carboxylic acid with alcohol, phenol, aldehyde or ketone functions decreased by -37.9% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a pronounced increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 1,866%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, carboxylic acid exports reached $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, recorded a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 261%. The exports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Slovakia (X tons) was the main destination for carboxylic acid exports from the Czech Republic, accounting for a 43% share of total exports. Moreover, carboxylic acid exports to Slovakia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Italy (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Poland (X tons), with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Slovakia stood at +10.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (-9.4% per year) and Poland (+27.9% per year).

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the key foreign market for carboxylic acid with alcohol, phenol, aldehyde or ketone functions exports from the Czech Republic, comprising 63% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Slovakia ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Italy, with a 7.9% share.

Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +53.6% against 2015 indices.
