Slovenia (X kg) was the main destination for sulphite wood pulp exports from the Czech Republic, with a 81% share of total exports. Moreover, sulphite wood pulp exports to Slovenia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Slovakia (X kg), ninefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Germany (X kg), with a 5.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Slovenia totaled -68.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovakia (-74.4% per year) and Germany (-78.7% per year).
In value terms, Slovenia ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for chemical wood pulp (sulphite, other than dissolving grades) exports from the Czech Republic, comprising 68% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Slovakia ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 7.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Slovenia stood at -65.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovakia (-68.3% per year) and Germany (-71.9% per year).

Imports into the Czech Republic
In 2021, sulphite wood pulp imports into the Czech Republic soared to X tons, with an increase of 22% on the previous year. In general, imports enjoyed strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 312% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, sulphite wood pulp imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports enjoyed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 305% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest sulphite wood pulp supplier to the Czech Republic, accounting for a 56% share of total imports. Moreover, sulphite wood pulp imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Brazil (X tons), fivefold. Russia (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Germany totaled +6.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Sweden (+6.6% per year) and Slovakia (+101.5% per year).
