The average yield of chicken meat in the Czech Republic totaled X kg per head in 2021, remaining constant against the year before. Over the period under review, the yield continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with a decrease of -7.1%. The chicken meat yield peaked at X kg per head in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the yield failed to regain momentum.
The number of animals slaughtered for chicken meat production in the Czech Republic was estimated at X heads in 2021, surging by 2.8% compared with the year before. In 2021, after four years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas shipments of chicken meat, when their volume increased by 26% to X tons. Overall, exports, however, showed a abrupt decrease. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, chicken meat exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, saw a deep slump. The exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Slovakia (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) were the main destinations of chicken meat exports from the Czech Republic, with a combined 60% share of total exports. Bulgaria, Austria, Poland, Ukraine and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 35%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Ukraine (with a CAGR of +53.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Slovakia ($X), Germany ($X) and Austria ($X) were the largest markets for chicken meat exported from the Czech Republic worldwide, with a combined 77% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria, the Netherlands and Ukraine, which together accounted for a further 19%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Ukraine, with a CAGR of +61.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average chicken meat export price amounted to $X per ton, falling by -1.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a slight reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+7.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Chicken Meat Imports
Imports into the Czech Republic
For the third year in a row, the Czech Republic recorded decline in supplies from abroad of chicken meat, which decreased by -15.3% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports saw a noticeable setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, chicken meat imports rose remarkably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a slight decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 16%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Poland (X tons) constituted the largest chicken meat supplier to the Czech Republic, with a 62% share of total imports. Moreover, chicken meat imports from Poland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Slovakia (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Germany (X tons), with a 9.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Poland stood at +1.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Slovakia (+7.1% per year) and Germany (+2.5% per year).
In value terms, Poland ($X) constituted the largest supplier of chicken meat to the Czech Republic, comprising 66% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Slovakia ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with an 8.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Poland stood at +4.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Slovakia (+10.4% per year) and the Netherlands (+9.4% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average chicken meat import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 26% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per ton), while the price for Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+8.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
