In 2022, overseas shipments of pimenta pepper increased by 22% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, exports posted a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 40%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, pimenta pepper exports declined to $X in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +95.3% against 2013 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined slightly in the following year.

Germany (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main destinations of pimenta pepper exports from the Czech Republic, together accounting for 76% of total exports. Croatia, Norway, Hungary and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 16%.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, pimenta pepper imports rose significantly to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 18% against the previous year.
