For the fourth year in a row, the Czech chocolate market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 16% to $X in 2022. In general, consumption showed a prominent increase. Poland (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons) were the main destinations of chocolate exports from the Czech Republic, together comprising 88% of total exports. Austria, Germany, Italy and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 9.6%.

Imports into the Czech Republic

Chocolate imports into the Czech Republic amounted to X tons in 2022, surging by 13% compared with 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, chocolate imports rose notably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the last decade. From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Spain (with a CAGR of +108.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
