Crane Market Size in the Czech Republic

The Czech crane market surged to $X in 2022, picking up by 89% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Crane consumption peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

Crane Production in the Czech Republic

In value terms, crane production reduced to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, continues to indicate a pronounced decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 134%. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2018 to 2022, production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports from the Czech Republic

In 2022, shipments abroad of derricks, cranes, mobile lifting frames, straddle carriers and work trucks fitted with a crane decreased by -6.5% to X units, falling for the fifth consecutive year after three years of growth. In general, exports, however, saw a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 89% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, crane exports fell to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 74%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Germany (X units) was the main destination for crane exports from the Czech Republic, accounting for a 28% share of total exports. Moreover, crane exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Denmark (X units), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Poland (X units), with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany totaled +7.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Denmark (+20.9% per year) and Poland (+17.2% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for derricks, cranes, mobile lifting frames, straddle carriers and work trucks fitted with a crane exports from the Czech Republic, comprising 29% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Poland ($X), with a 9.8% share of total exports. It was followed by Denmark, with a 9.2% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany stood at +7.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+15.2% per year) and Denmark (+11.2% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average crane export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, approximately equating the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a perceptible contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average export price increased by 15% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Finland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovakia (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into the Czech Republic

In 2022, overseas purchases of derricks, cranes, mobile lifting frames, straddle carriers and work trucks fitted with a crane increased by 35% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports posted strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 72%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, crane imports rose remarkably to $X in 2022. In general, imports saw prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 41%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Germany (X units), the Netherlands (X units) and Italy (X units) were the main suppliers of crane imports to the Czech Republic, together comprising 58% of total imports. Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Spain, Finland and Austria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 30%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +37.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average import price increased by 22% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2021 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per unit), while the price for Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
