Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, electronic chip exports stood at $X in 2021. In general, total exports indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +74.0% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 27%. The exports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
Germany (X units), Spain (X units) and Slovakia (X units) were the main destinations of electronic chip exports from the Czech Republic, with a combined 57% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, France, Poland, Italy, Hungary, Russia, Portugal, Bulgaria, Turkey and China, which together accounted for a further 46%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by China (with a CAGR of +17.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for electronic chips exports from the Czech Republic, comprising 20% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with a 9.9% share of total exports. It was followed by Russia, with an 8.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany stood at +5.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (-5.5% per year) and Russia (+23.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average electronic chip export price amounted to $X per unit, jumping by 80% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a resilient increase. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+22.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Czech Republic
In 2021, supplies from abroad of electronic chips was finally on the rise to reach X units after four years of decline. In general, imports enjoyed noticeable growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 113% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, electronic chip imports fell to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +17.5% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then contracted modestly in the following year.
Imports by Country
Germany (X units), the Netherlands (X units) and the United States (X units) were the main suppliers of electronic chip imports to the Czech Republic, together comprising 80% of total imports. France, Japan, Belgium, Hong Kong SAR, China, Poland, Slovakia, the UK, Malaysia and the Philippines lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 16%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Hong Kong SAR (with a CAGR of +60.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) constituted the largest supplier of electronic chips to the Czech Republic, comprising 33% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from the Netherlands totaled -3.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+17.5% per year) and Germany (+15.4% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average electronic chip import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, dropping by -5.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the average import price increased by 75%. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per unit), while the price for Poland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+54.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
