The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +25.1% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 44%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, expanded clays exports expanded to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, overseas purchases of exfoliated vermiculite, expanded clays and foamed slag decreased by -17.8% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. Over the period under review, total imports indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -45.7% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 38%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, expanded clays imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 87% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Germany (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main suppliers of expanded clays imports to the Czech Republic, together accounting for 64% of total imports.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, expanded clays import price increased by +117.1% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 77% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
