Exports from the Czech Republic
In 2022, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials, when their volume decreased by -16.7% to X cubic meters. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by 27% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X cubic meters in 2021, and then dropped sharply in the following year.
In value terms, fiberboard exports reduced modestly to $X in 2022. In general, total exports indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +67.5% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then shrank slightly in the following year.

Slovakia (X cubic meters), Poland (X cubic meters) and Germany (X cubic meters) were the main destinations of fiberboard exports from the Czech Republic, together comprising 62% of total exports. The Netherlands, Austria, Hungary, Sweden, Croatia, Estonia, Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Lithuania and Slovenia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 34%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Italy (with a CAGR of +55.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Slovakia ($X), Poland ($X) and Germany ($X) were the largest markets for fiberboard exported from the Czech Republic worldwide, together accounting for 62% of total exports. The Netherlands, Hungary, Sweden, Austria, Croatia, Estonia, Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia and Lithuania lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 32%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Italy, with a CAGR of +56.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average fiberboard export price amounted to $X per cubic meter, picking up by 17% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.0%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 22% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($X per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into the Czech Republic
In 2022, approx. X cubic meters of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials were imported into the Czech Republic; declining by -18.6% on 2021. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 15%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X cubic meters, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

Austria, Ukraine, Romania, Belgium, Hungary, France and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 33%.

Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per cubic meter), while the price for Ukraine ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
