Slovakia (X tons) was the main destination for baby food exports from the Czech Republic, with a 62% share of total exports. Moreover, baby food exports to Slovakia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X tons), twofold. Austria (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 3.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Slovakia stood at +12.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+182.2% per year) and Austria (+38.9% per year).
In value terms, Slovakia ($X), Germany ($X) and Austria ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for baby food exported from the Czech Republic worldwide, together comprising 98% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+32.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Czech Republic
In 2021, purchases abroad of food preparations for infants decreased by -13.4% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. Overall, imports showed a mild contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 53%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, baby food imports dropped modestly to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest baby food supplier to the Czech Republic, accounting for a 32% share of total imports. Moreover, baby food imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Poland (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Sweden (X tons), with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Germany amounted to -2.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (-6.9% per year) and Sweden (+63.6% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of food preparations for infants to the Czech Republic, comprising 36% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Poland ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Sweden, with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Germany was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (-1.4% per year) and Sweden (+76.2% per year).
