In general, exports, however, recorded a pronounced slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 158%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, fresh pork cut exports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a noticeable slump. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Slovakia (X tons) was the main destination for fresh pork cut exports from the Czech Republic, with a 88% share of total exports. Moreover, fresh pork cut exports to Slovakia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Belgium (X tons), more than tenfold. France (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 3.4% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Slovakia totaled -4.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belgium (+75.2% per year) and France (+39.8% per year).

In value terms, Slovakia ($X) remains the key foreign market for fresh or chilled hams, shoulders and cuts of pig meat exports from the Czech Republic, comprising 76% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by France ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Belgium, with an 8.2% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Slovakia stood at -5.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (+53.2% per year) and Belgium (+122.3% per year).

The average fresh pork cut export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 11% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 22%. In 2022, overseas purchases of fresh or chilled hams, shoulders and cuts of pig meat were finally on the rise to reach X tons after three years of decline. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 15%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, fresh pork cut imports stood at $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a mild reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 31%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Spain (X tons), Germany (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main suppliers of fresh pork cut imports to the Czech Republic, together comprising 77% of total imports. These countries were followed by Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland and Denmark, which together accounted for a further 20%.
