Plastic Furniture Market Size in the Czech Republic

In 2021, the Czech plastic furniture market decreased by -24.6% to $X, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, consumption, however, saw a moderate increase. Over the period under review, the market attained the peak level at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

Exports from the Czech Republic

In 2021, plastic furniture exports from the Czech Republic rose remarkably to X units, increasing by 9.3% on 2020. In general, exports saw a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 431%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, plastic furniture exports declined to $X in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 785%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Germany (X units) was the main destination for plastic furniture exports from the Czech Republic, with a 51% share of total exports. Moreover, plastic furniture exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, France (X units), twofold. Slovakia (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany stood at +72.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (+101.6% per year) and Slovakia (+17.8% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for plastic furniture exports from the Czech Republic, comprising 69% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by France ($X), with a 22% share of total exports. It was followed by Slovakia, with a 2.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Germany amounted to +69.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (+90.9% per year) and Slovakia (+8.2% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average plastic furniture export price amounted to $X per unit, waning by -16.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a pronounced expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average export price increased by 318%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (-1.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into the Czech Republic

After two years of decline, overseas purchases of furniture of plastic increased by 43% to X units in 2021. Overall, imports enjoyed a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 135% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, plastic furniture imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 99%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Poland (X units) constituted the largest supplier of plastic furniture to the Czech Republic, accounting for a 48% share of total imports. Moreover, plastic furniture imports from Poland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X units), threefold. China (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Poland amounted to +29.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+14.4% per year) and China (+3.5% per year).

In value terms, Tunisia ($X), Poland ($X) and Germany ($X) constituted the largest plastic furniture suppliers to the Czech Republic, with a combined 77% share of total imports.

Tunisia, with a CAGR of +158.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average plastic furniture import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, reducing by -7.8% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, plastic furniture import price decreased by -14.9% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 120%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
