In 2021, the Czech glucose market increased by 17% to $X, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, consumption, however, recorded a slight slump. In 2021, exports of glucose and glucose syrup from the Czech Republic skyrocketed to X tons, picking up by 44% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, total exports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +75.7% against 2016 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +109.8% against 2016 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Poland (X tons) was the main destination for glucose exports from the Czech Republic, accounting for a 40% share of total exports. Moreover, glucose exports to Poland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X tons), twofold. Slovakia (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Poland was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+9.4% per year) and Slovakia (+21.3% per year).
In value terms, the largest markets for glucose exported from the Czech Republic were Poland ($X), Germany ($X) and Slovakia ($X), together comprising 62% of total exports. These countries were followed by Italy, Belgium, Austria, Hungary, Ukraine and Uzbekistan, which together accounted for a further 27%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Italy, with a CAGR of +208.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average glucose export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 6.6% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Czech Republic
In 2021, overseas purchases of glucose and glucose syrup increased by 24% to X tons, rising for the third year in a row after three years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, glucose imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a perceptible shrinkage. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Hungary (X tons), Bulgaria (X tons) and Austria (X tons) were the main suppliers of glucose imports to the Czech Republic, together comprising 53% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Bulgaria (with a CAGR of +43.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest glucose suppliers to the Czech Republic were Bulgaria ($X), Austria ($X) and Hungary ($X), with a combined 66% share of total imports.
